Spjut constructs two viewpoints of the story with perfect clarity. One is the physical world, that describes the natural landscape. The landscape's description has spectacular imagery that is vivid, specific, and crucial to the story. The other viewpoint is the person describing how people talk, the importance of coffee, what the hotel restaurant tablecloth looks like. These specific parts create a completely realistic and functioning environment with characters that are also equally realistic. which makes the story's strangeness more effective.Winter Down by Tiamat
Tombstone by Tiamat The Scarred People by Tiamat A Gothic Love Song by Current93 These songs made by Tiamat and Current93 are dark and mysterious like the setting of the story. Winter Down, Tombstone, A Gothic Love Song, and The Scarred People are all examples of auditory representations of the story's dark and gloomy setting. Stefan Spjut presents an beautifully written story of mythical creatures inside their own universe. The investigator, Susso Myrén, has a picture as proof of trolls from her grandfather of an inhuman creature riding a bear. Her investigation comes into play when one of her cameras picks up a strange man where a boy has been taken, and that strange man is the shape-shifting stallo, hence the title The Shapeshifters. On her investigation, she takes her mother and ex-boyfriend and pursues leads throughout the Sweedish countryside. The information she finds is connected to another kidnapping of an artist named John who paints the mythical creatures trolls and gnomes. One of the obstacles she faces is the secret group that shield trolls from discovery. |
